Meet Juliana de Lima Vasconcellos: Brazil's shining architectual designer star
Juliana de Lima Vasconcellos is one stylish woman. Her beautiful houses, architectual projects and beautifully designed funiture are unique and equally stylish as herself. No wonder she is seen as the most prominent interior architect of her generation in Brazil.
Throughout her years working within fashion, architecture and design, Juliana has lived in cities like New York, Barcelona and London and now divides her time between her houses in Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Juliana is the founder of the Vasconcellos Studio and co-founder of Vasconcellos Barreto, where she develops furniture and decoration pieces along with the architect Matheus Barreto.
" I love real materials like stone and wood and adore fabrics with a lot of texture. Helping my clients buying art and collective design give me great pleasure. I have a major passion for modern furniture, especially French, Brazilian and Scandinavian. My favorites designers are Mattia Bonetti, Maria Pergay, Jean Royere, Joaquin Tenreiro, Paul Evans and Rick Owens. I addition, I really like ceramics, particularly German.
What inspires you? Whats your passions in life?
- I'm a very visual person and always paying attention to beautiful things like nature, visual arts and cinema. I have a passion for classic music. I used to study classical Piano and singing and one of my dreams were to be a singer. I adore fashion and I am in progress to establish a fashion brand with a friend of mine. We are expecting to launch in 2017. I am very excited!
What design trends do you see?
- Organic shapes, natural textures, special glass, desaturated colors, prints and handmade technics.
Juliana finds inspirations from anything beautiful- fashion runway shows, art work or nature itself. The photos in this article are a mix of pictures from various recent projects that Juliana has created. Even most of the furnitures seen are designed by Juliana and her team, made custom for each home.
Juliana loves when she can be creative and every project differs from each other while still oouzing of Juliana's style and timeless coolness. Pop up shops, office buildings or private residential homes are just a few of her recent projects which you can view in this feature.
Juliana's pedigree of work and awards are impressive with many exciting collaborations and projects in pipeline. Her work has been published in most magazines and important publications and in addition, she has taken part of the most important and luxurious showcase for interior design in Brazil, the Mostra Black.
Her portfolio also includes furniture exposé in IDA/ARTRIO and MADE. As mentioned above, Juliana also develops and designs furniture pieces and recent collaborations includes eg: several galleries that participates of PAD Paris, PAD London, SParte and ArtRio.
