CAPE TOWN: Three hidden gems - Stylish and luxurious boutique hotels
I love travelling around the world and finding beautiful and stylish boutique hotels. Those hidden gems that offers privacy, style, amazing service and that feel of a home away from home.
Here are three of my favourites in Cape Town:
KENSINGTON PLACE:
This stunning place is located in the residential and leafy area of Higgovale, surrounded by Table Mountain and overlooking the city. This luxury boutique hotel houses just eight spacious suites and you get that feel that you are being far away from everything when you walk through the main door to this gorgeous villa.
An oasis of tranquillity awaits you. The beautiful house is surrounded by a small but stunning garden and some of the rooms offer private terraces.
Go for a dip in the pool or curl up with a book in the comfortable sofas in the cabanas on the terrace. You could happily stay at the house all day just lounging.
The staff are friendly, attentive and will do anything to make you feel welcome. The sumptuous breakfast is a highlight and one of the best I ever had. Cold press juices, a la carte menu and everything taste heavenly.

ELLERMAN HOUSE:
Elegance, privacy and incredible service is probably the best words describing this wonderful place. Perched on a cliff overlooking Bantry Bay this place offers an unbeatable location. Built in 1906, the original Cape Edwardian mansion, its outbuildings and gardens are well over a century old and great care has been taken over the years to preserve and maintain the heritage of this unique property.
The ocean views are spectacular and so is the vast garden and grounds, which allow you to almost get lost among the beautifully manicured lawns and botanical garden, its many corners and private areas.
The mansion has 11 beautiful room and 2 suites, many with their private terraces. In addition there are two stunning 3 bedroom private villas on the estate for those who want that extra level of privacy and space.
The property is not open to the public, offering a genuine level of privacy and exclusivity to guests.
A must is the private wine and champagne cellar ( see photos below ) which is not only one of the most stylish and well designed spaces I have ever seen, but the collection itself is something out of this world. In addition, Ellerman House has its private art gallery which includes one off pieces from local artists. An afternoon of wine tasting or simply sitting down with one of the many beautiful books from its library is well worth your time- It is an unique experience.
This beautiful and extraordinary place has so much to offer but maybe more importantly, it has that special feel of a lovely home away from home. The staff will go out of their way to make your stay unforgettable.

CAPE CADOGAN:
This lovely place is located just off the trendy and vibrant Kloof Street, which means you are only a few steps away from great restaurants and shops. This grand Victorian mansion is beautifully restored but still oozes sleek and contemporary design with attention to detail. The staff is warm and welcoming, trying to accommodate you and any wishes you may have.
The courtyard is a great place to hang out with a coffee and a book. Cool off in the plunge pool and indulge yourself in the home made bread and cookies that are on offer for afternoon tea. Simply lean back and soak up the atmosphere.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and are designed in a contemporary and timeless style. Many of the rooms have private terraces or balconies where you can enjoy privacy or order up your breakfast.
This beautiful, luxurious boutique hotel offers great service and style and what makes it special more then anything is the attentive and lovely staff- always smiling and making your day just that little bit more amazing.
